Independent game studio

Games made to be played together.

Takiko Games is a small independent studio making co‑op games for friends and family. Our first, Nehemiah, puts up to four of you on the walls of an ancient city with 52 days to rebuild them.

The Takiko Games wave: a great wave curling over a small mountain and a rising sun.

Our games

  • Four builders at the wall: one carries stone in a basket, another works the wall from the scaffold.
  • A wide view of the city inside the wall, with houses, a pool and olive trees.
  • The crew keeps building by torchlight after dark.

Nehemiah

Rebuild the wall of Jerusalem in 52 days.

A co-op action-strategy game for 2–4 players, like Overcooked meets tower defense. Carry wood, stone and mortar, raise the wall with your own hands, and keep the raiders off the builders, because builders with full hands can’t defend themselves.

No. 02In the workshop

Something new is taking shape.

Our next game is in early development: a new story, and another crew to play it with. We’ll show it here when it’s ready. Until then, Nehemiah keeps getting better.

How we make games

We make the games we love to play with friends: a clear goal, too much to do, and a crew that has to work together or fail. Our stories come from history and the people who lived it, and we treat them with care.

  1. 01

    The story sets the rules

Mechanics grow out of the story, not the other way round. In Nehemiah the wall takes 52 days, the work goes gate by gate around the city, and the builders keep a weapon close at hand.

  2. 02

    Better together

We design for a crew. Everyone has a job, nobody can do it all, and the fun is in covering for each other when the raiders come.

  3. 03

    Fun first

Every idea has to earn its place by being fun to play. Easy to pick up, a little chaotic, and never a lecture.

  4. 04

    Small, and listening

We’re a small independent team. We read every message, and our games keep improving because players tell us what to fix.
